Is contour lighting applicable to all buildings?

In building lighting design, contour lighting is a commonly used LED lighting technique. It uses a line light source to directly outline the building's outline, and illuminating the edge of the building with a narrow beam can also play a role in contouring. There are many ways to use contour LED lighting in buildings.

One way of outdoor LED lighting engineering is to arrange point light sources (incandescent lamps, energy-saving LED lamps, LED point light sources, etc.) along the outer edge of the building, and connect them in a line to outline the outline of the building, which is called a point-shaped contour LED lamp. Another way is to form the outline of the building with the luminous surface (projection, inner penetration, backlight, etc.), which can also be regarded as a kind of outline LED lighting, which is called a surface outline light.

There is another way to outline the building with continuous LED linear light sources. This is also the most commonly used method at present, which we call linear contour lights. It is mostly suitable for buildings with unique shapes, and highlights the special geometric shapes of buildings in landscapes with low brightness requirements. So is LED contour lights applicable to all buildings? What type of building is more suitable for use, and what kind of building is not suitable? The application of outdoor lighting LED contour lighting should follow the principle of small-scale and fun-oriented, and be used in parts of buildings (groups) to avoid simple stacking on a large scale. Contour lighting LED usually uses a lot of colored light, which will conceal the color of the building itself, and make it difficult to identify the building materials of the building and see the structure of the building itself. At the same time, the building itself loses its essence, makes the building appear gaudy, and fails to highlight its own characteristics, thus losing the beauty of the building in the entire space.

LED outdoor lighting manufacturers suggest that LED contour lighting fixtures should not be used alone, and that tall buildings that are inconvenient to maintain should be used as little as possible. For outdoor lighting projects, the outline lights alone cannot be illuminated on the building facade, and cannot produce moving light and shadow effects like LED floodlighting. Therefore, it is only suitable as an auxiliary lighting means to decorate larger buildings with rich contours.
