Placement and Location
For most types of recessed lighting, only a small part of the decoration around the lamp extends below the ceiling, so most recessed lighting flush with the ceiling surface. This provides a clean appearance, but it also provides less lighting than traditional ceiling lights, so you may need more than one led recessed light to illuminate the entire space.

Lighting throughout the room:
Lighting needs vary depending on the purpose of the room, because you most likely want more lighting in the kitchen than in the family room. The general rule for placing standard 6-inch led recessed lights is to divide the ceiling height in two; this should be the distance you install the led lights. If the ceiling's height is 9 feet, we may install recessed downlights 4.5 feet apart to illuminate the entire room. However, this rule may vary, depending on the actual brightness of the ceiling recessed lights.
