Starting from September 1, 2021, lamps sold in the European market need to apply the new label.
On March 11, 2019, the Official Bulletin of the European Commission passed the (EU) 2019/2015 Regulation, which requires that from September 1, 2021, lamps and light sources (including solar street light, solar lights, indoor ceiling panel led light, outdoor waterproof led lamps and etc.) sold in the EU market must apply a new energy efficiency label.
Each LED light source put on the market as an independent product (that is, a product not included in the package) is attached with a label, and the label is printed on the package.
The Internet sales platform should inform the platform merchants to display the electronic energy efficiency label and product information sheet of their LED lighting (light source) products.
For Internet sellers, it is necessary to ensure that labels and product information sheets are provided in accordance with (EU) 2019/2015 Regulations Annex VII and VIII.
Any visual advertisement of a specific model of light source, including on the Internet, includes the energy efficiency rating of the model and the range of energy efficiency ratings available on the label.
Any technical publicity materials about a specific type of light source, including technical publicity materials on the Internet, describing its specific technical parameters, including the energy efficiency rating of the model and the range of energy efficiency ratings available on the label, in compliance with (EU) 2019/2015 Regulation Annex VII .
Within 18 months after the application of this regulation, the existing labels on the point-of-sale light sources are replaced with re-adjusted labels to cover the existing labels, including labels printed or attached to the packaging.
When selling on the Internet, the graphic alternative text that does not display the label should be the energy efficiency level of the product, and the font size should be equivalent to that of the price display, and should be displayed on a display device close to the product price. The size should be such that the label is legible and should be commensurate with the size specified in Annex III for the standard label.
From May 1, 2021, lamps (light source) products sold in the EU market must register an account on the EU EPREL website and enter product information to generate a new energy efficiency standard.
What information is needed for the new energy efficiency label of the lamp?
Energy efficiency labels have 2 different types of sizes, black and white and color in 2 different colors. There are different requirements on the format, so I won’t go into it here. The above is a standard size label. Take it as an example.
The necessary information is:
1. Supplier’s name or trademark
2. Product signal
3. Energy efficiency class A to G
4. The energy consumption of the light source, expressed in kilowatt-hours per 1000 hours
5. QR code
6. Meet the level of energy efficiency
7. Regulation Number 2019/2015
How should cross-border lamp sellers or factories respond?
LED Luminaires (light source) products placed on the EU market before September 1, 2021 do not need to affix new energy efficiency labels. Luminaires (light sources) products placed on the EU market after September 1, 2021 must be generated after entering the product information on the EU EPREL website The new energy efficiency label is printed on the product packaging, and the new energy efficiency label must be displayed on the Internet sales page.
The process of obtaining the new energy efficiency label is as follows:
1. Obtain product energy efficiency information-carry out ERP energy efficiency testing in accordance with (EU) 2019/2020 regulations, and obtain product energy efficiency test reports.
2. Compile product information sheets and technical documents.
3. Enter product energy efficiency information on EPREL website, upload product information sheets, technical documents and test reports.
4. Generate new energy efficiency labels and print them on the packaging to put them on the market.
