What certification is required for LED lights exported to the United States?

The safety requirements for LED lamps in the US market mainly include UL, CSA, ETL, etc. The main certification test standards are UL 8750, UL 1598, UL 153, UL 1993, UL 1574, UL 2108, UL 1310, UL 1012, etc.

Among them, UL8750 is the safety requirements for LED light sources used in lighting products, including requirements for use environment, mechanical structure, electrical mechanism, etc.

In terms of test evaluation, the main tests of UL 8750 include test evaluation related to electric shock hazard, test evaluation related to thermal hazard, test evaluation related to mechanical structure and electrical structure, test related to energy hazard, fire-related test evaluation Material evaluation, test evaluation related to the application environment, etc.

UL 1598 is the safety requirement for fixed LED lamps. Fixed lamps do not have power cord plugs, including shoebox led street lights, led step lights, led wall lamps, led pole lights, led flood lights, led ceiling lamps, chandeliers, etc.

UL153 is the safety requirement for portable lamps, all portable lamps have power cord plugs, including portable led lights, wall lamps, table lamps, floor lamps, etc.

UL 1993 is the safety requirement for self-ballasted lamps and lamp adapters that contain driver circuits such as LED light bulbs and compact fluorescent lamp CFLs.

UL 1574 and UL 2108 are the safety requirements for lighting systems and low-voltage lighting systems, respectively.

UL 1310 applies to power supplies with type 2 safety circuits, while UL 1012 applies to power supplies without type 2 safety circuits.

UL 8750 is a must-test item for UL certification of LED lighting products. In addition, according to different products and power supply categories, it is necessary to increase the corresponding testing items of lamps and power supply standards.

For the safety testing and certification of LED lighting fixtures, the EU CE certification and the US UL certification have different focuses. CE certification focuses on the safety of products against electric shock, while UL certification focuses more on the safety of products against fire.
