In lighting design, we often mention "warm white, cool white", or color temperature "3000K", etc. Corresponding dimming also produces "two-color temperature dimming" in addition to brightness adjustment. However do you know:
Where does the 3000K color temperature come from?
What determines the color temperature?
Why is there a distinction between "warm white and cold white"?
Why should we consider the application of different color temperatures in lighting design?
Is the adjustable temperature of the lamp determined by the power supply or other parts?
How does dual-color temperature lamps realize color temperature adjustment?
Let us take these questions into the following text today...
1. The concept of color temperature
Color temperature, a unit of measurement of the color components contained in light, is the color change that a black body appears after it is heated from absolute zero (-273°C). When heated to a certain temperature, the spectrum of the light emitted by the black body is called the color temperature at this temperature, and the unit of measurement is "K" (Kelvin)
The led color presented by a color temperature of 3000K is actually the color of light emitted by an absolute black body at 2727°C (2727+273=3000). TheCCT of light emitted by common white led light fixtures is generally 2700K-6500K. Theoretically, a black body will gradually turn from black to red, turn yellow, turn white, and finally emit blue light after being heated. Therefore, correspondingly, the lower the K value, the more yellowish the color of the light represented, and the K value gradually increases. The color of light is closer to blue.
2. The effect of color temperature on human perception
Let's take a look at a set of photos below:
Based on same scene, different light can give people completely different feelings, this is the magic of color temperature. Generally, the closer the light color is to red (the lower the K value), the more warm and hot the impression is, the more bluish and white (the higher the K value), the easier it will give people a cold and flat feeling.
At the same time, the color temperature of natural light adapted to the human body r hythm (as shown in the figure) will also cause warm light to make people want to sleep, and cold light to make people awake.
Therefore, in order to create different feeling atmospheres, such as warm light in the home for a more warm feeling, and cool white in the office to improve work efficiency, this is the effect of lighting design combined with the effect of color temperature on the r hythm of the human body.
So when you buy led lights like outdoor led lights (led tunnel light, solar led street light, led flood light…) and indoor lights led (panel light, downlights, ceiling light led, track lights, spots light, bulb led lamp), color is very key factor to decide which type to use.
