LED downlight heat dissipation in the era of low profit
Lower cost, higher efficiency. As the LED market gradually matures, LED lighting also puts forward more stringent requirements on various components.
Among them, heat dissipation components, which are directly related to the performance and reliability of LED lighting products, have increasingly become a key topic in the design and application of LED lamps. So, to what extent is the current LED heat dissipation component applied? What are the latest heat dissipation materials? Starting from the heat dissipation of downlights, we visited the industry and learned about the new technologies and new applications of LED heat dissipation materials from the frontline LED downlights and heat dissipation companies.
Aluminum heat dissipation is widely used, but the cost and environmental protection issues are becoming increasingly serious. Most LED downlight manufacturers still use aluminum heat dissipation materials as the lamp housing. Because of their good heat dissipation and molding, the application is mature, and they have been well maintained in the field of light sources and high-power lamps market share. However, the shortcomings of complex processing, high cost, heavy material, etc. still become a natural barrier to reduce the cost of LED lights.
Crownda mostly uses die-cast aluminum radiators. The advantages of die-cast aluminum radiators are beautiful appearance, variable shapes, and moderate prices. At the same time, the die-cast aluminum radiator itself is not insulated, and the power supply needs to be protected by an insulator. The cost of the radiator mold is relatively high, and the investment in new product development is large.
Aluminum alloy heat dissipation materials currently have two most obvious drawbacks. The first is environmental protection. Now environmental protection checks are very strict, and the hardware production process is environmentally friendly. This is a very important signal. In addition, the cost is relatively high. If a die-cast downlight is made, the material may not be too expensive, but now the cost of die-casting, including the cost of post-processing, is calculated as a whole. Will be very high.
Aluminum down led lamp body heat dissipation is currently the most widely used heat dissipation method in the LED lighting industry. As a downlight, we currently think that it is better to use stamped aluminum material that is economical, practical and cost-effective. But if you use plastic-clad aluminum, It needs to use thermally conductive plastic to coat aluminum, one is good for heat dissipation, and the other is texture.
Plastic cooling solutions are emerging, with thermal conductivity, cost-effectiveness and insulation
On the other hand, plastic heat dissipation is gradually emerging. Because of its advantages in design, performance, and cost, such as light weight (20-40% lighter than aluminum), easy forming, low cost, and most importantly, because plastics are not conductive, they have good electrical insulation ability, plastic with aluminum heat dissipation has gradually become a trend low wattage led lighting.
