What are the main advantages of LED lights?
LEDs are one of the latest technological advancements in the lighting industry. This revolutionary lighting solution forces consumers to choose it over traditional fluorescent lamps because it promises higher efficiency, lower energy consumption, longer lifespan, and most importantly, cost-effectiveness. So, what are the main advantages of LED lights?
1. Environmentally friendly choice
The manufacture of neon tubes requires the use of toxic chemicals such as mercury, which pose a serious threat to the environment. Surprisingly, the production of LED lights does not generate toxic waste and is an environmentally friendly alternative. LEDs produce significantly fewer carbon emissions than other lighting solutions. Besides helping to reduce carbon emissions, not as many LED lights are needed to get the desired lighting, and they last longer. Making fewer LED lights means less energy is used in the production process and less waste is generated that can harm the environment.
2. Extended service life
The lifespan of traditional fluorescent and incandescent lamps is about 1,500 hours, while LED lamps can be used continuously for 60,000 hours. Most LED lighting lamps have a lifespan of more than 5 years and do not require frequent replacement. This extended life reduces maintenance and operating costs, making it ideal for homes and businesses.
3. Improve efficiency
It is important to consider the efficiency of any given device. LED lights use up to 90% less energy than incandescent bulbs, making them an energy-efficient lighting solution that many people prefer. Because they use less energy, they are cheaper, and a nice by-product is that they don't require much maintenance. In extremely cold conditions, LEDs work flawlessly and do not require higher operating voltages than fluorescent lamps.
4. Solid alternative
Whether tube or incandescent bulbs, most traditional lighting solutions either contain neon gas or filament glow. These light sources are fragile and can be easily broken by shock. LED lights, on the other hand, are a solid alternative because they use a semiconductor material encapsulated in a plastic housing that provides extra protection and robustness.
5. Various colors
We can easily find LED lamps in various primary colors, while incandescent lamps use color filters to create the effect of colored light. Colored LED lights can also be mixed to produce other colors and shades of light.
6. Practical application
LED lights have a variety of practical applications, most notably in the home lighting, military, construction, entertainment, automotive, and gaming industries, and other commercial/industrial lighting areas. From desk lamps to floodlights, LEDs are a simple and effective lighting solution to choose from.
7. Heat dissipation
Incandescent bulbs emit more than 80% of their electrical energy consumption in the form of heat, while no more than 10% is used to produce light. On the other hand, LED lighting products emit very little heat and use 75% less energy than traditional light bulbs.
8. Customized on demand
Since LEDs are tiny diodes, they can be arranged in any form we can think of. Besides buying standard LED lights, we can also easily arrange LED lights ourselves (customized led lights). From illuminating a doorway to a stone walkway in the backyard, LEDs can be installed in any conceivable arrangement and shape.
9. Low voltage requirements
LEDs can easily run down to 12 volts. In areas prone to natural disasters such as high winds, storms, or floods, using these low-voltage lighting solutions is a great option, as the lights can run for days on end, providing uninterrupted light. A 12-volt wire is far less likely to be electrocuted than a conventional 110-220-volt wire.
10. Instant Lighting Solutions
Unlike halogen lamps, which take a few seconds to warm up before emitting light, LED lights can turn on instantly. Furthermore, switching LED lamps on and off more frequently has a negligible impact on their lifetime or efficiency. That's why LEDs are ideal for public spaces where lights need to be turned on and off frequently.
11. Business use
Most traditional light sources emit light at a 360-degree angle and cannot illuminate or focus on one area. When using traditional lighting options, different light-deflecting accessories, such as bulb holders, are required to focus the light in one place. But LEDs glow at a 180-degree angle, making them perfect for lighting up kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and even art.
LEDs are truly an excellent lighting solution that is not only cost-effective, but an efficient way to light up your home, workplace, or commercial space.
