2. No phosphor white semi-polarized LED

In the same month, the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) research team and Nobel Prize winner Shuji Nakamura jointly developed a new method for manufacturing phosphor-free white semi-polarized LEDs. After the birth of the LED device, it is expected to be used as a backlight source.

During the research process, the research team used blu e quantum wells (top) and yellow quantum wells (bottom) to grow phosphor-free white InGaN (Indium Gallium Nitride) LEDs on the bulk gallium nitride substrate. These LEDs emit peak wavelengths. It is 427mn blue light and 560nm yellow light, and the output function is 0.9mW, which overcomes the problems of white LED energy loss and thermal stability degradation caused by phosphor conversion.

The research team believes that high-efficiency LEDs without phosphors have a promising prospect as a backlight, and it is expected to realize Micro LEDs used in LiFi for visible light communication.
   

3. Dark blue phosphorescent OLED

In the same month, a research team led by Jin Sung-ho, a professor at Busan National University in South Korea, developed a deep blue phosphorescent OLED material and device. Compared with fluorescent materials, this material has superior external quantum Efficiency and on-site lighting characteristics.
  
The research team optimized the concentration imbalance between electrons and pores in the OLED light-emitting layer by adjusting the doping concentration, and solved the problem of low brightness and efficiency. The researchers also achieved an efficiency of 24% by controlling the concentration of electrons and pores in the light-emitting layer.
   
The emergence of this OLED material and device fills in the shortcomings of the low efficiency and low brightness of the same type of devices, meets the NTSC blue standard, and brings a powerful source of power for the high-quality applications of lighting and display products.
